Monthly Moodboard - Craft Colour Riot

I'm getting my craft mojo back and have managed to undertake a few projects this week.  My stag beetle embroidery went well (see previous post) and I've made a felt ball garland.  I've also started to make a ripple blanket using the tutorial from the brilliant Attic24 blog, it's an easy pattern to follow once you get the hang of it.  I'll post some more updates on here as I progress.

It's my last day before I go back to work tomorrow, the summer has whizzed by and there's a week full of sunshine forecast whilst I'm stuck in the office.  It won't be long before the hedgerows are full of ripe fruit ready to be picked and conkers start making an appearance in the playground. August through to September is such a lovely time of year.

Monthly Moodboard - It's Been a While

It's been over a month since the last post on Make Do Sew, apologies but at times there are things that happen to us all that take priority over everything and this past couple of months has been tough.  Hence why my blogging and social media activity has been at a minimum.

I don't like to share too much of my private life on my blog as I feel it's unfair on my family who either, don't want to be posted on the internet or are too young to make that choice for themselves.  However at the moment my life is going through a transitional period and this means my usual 2-4 blog posts a week will be a bit sporadic until life reaches some kind of normality.

Despite all this my mind can't help but think up 'crafty makes, and potential blog posts to share, it's a cathartic process that allows the mind a needed rest.  Time permitting I'm intending to post at least once a week and my Monday Moodboards will be monthly for a while.  Thanks to all those who have contacted me, it's been lovely to know that people I've never met are looking out for me, surely that's one of the many beauties that blogging and networking offer.

My Moodboard today is 'yellow', such a happy and optimistic colour that sums up summer wonderfully.

#Monday Moodboard - Backdated and Belated! - Nostalgic Retro

Phew...talk about a hectic week, it's definitely time to relax a bit and slow down, apologies for the belated 'Monday Moodboard', as they say 'better late than never'.

The sunshine always makes me feel nostalgic; those six week summer holidays that seemed to go on forever, camping holidays in Cornwall, freshly cut grass that always ended in a 'GRASS FIGHT', the sound of the ice cream van a few streets away. In light of this nostalgic mood I've put together some of the highlights of my 1970's/80's childhood.....which ones do you remember?

Well the Easter holidays are officially over and I have to say I've been eating rubbish for the past two weeks. As much as I've enjoyed it it's time to get back in the zone, healthier eating and a bit more exercise for me.

#Monday Moodboard - Birds of a Feather

Now the clocks have gone forward the mornings and evenings are lighter, it's been so nice to wake up to bird song this week. Longer days should mean more opportunities for some craft based posts with better daylight photography, watch this space. The allotment chickens are happier and being generous with their egg laying, it's been a tough winter for them. More eggs means more baking, I'm going to try a lemon drizzle cake this week, one of my faves!

There's lots going on this week, I'm in the midst of writing some guest posts for fellow bloggers (watch this space), I've also been having a browse through Etsy looking for alternative Easter gifts, I love chocolate but the house gets inundated with the stuff and while the kids are asleep, Mummy eats. (Oh the shame)!

#Monday Moodboard - My Week in Food

I was bought a stand mixer for Christmas and have been bitten by the baking bug, meringues, bread, cakes, shortbread and pastry have all been whipped up in half the time. Hence why of late my blog has been featuring more cooking than crafting. I really must get back to making rather than just baking.

I've also developed an addiction to bruschetta, does anyone else go through phases with food? At the moment I could eat bruschetta 7 days a week.

#Monday Moodboard- Pale and Interesting

Signs of spring are popping up everywhere and this month the clocks go forward meaning lighter mornings and nights. I love this time of year, it makes me feel full of optimism and with longer lighter days taking photographs for my blog just got a whole lot easier. It means I can ease up on the photo editing and go a bit more 'au natural'.

My moodboard today was a bit of a tonal exploration, we're thinking about decorating this year and a tonal pale colour palette of neutral whites and greys with the occasional flash of colour seems to be on the cards.

#Monday Moodboard - Valentines Day

Last week was a bit up and down, car crash, sinusitis and a broken shower, these things are sent try us. This week should be better and a little high point will be Valentines Day. We aren't doing much but are planning on having a nice dinner together at home, what are your plans? I love receiving cards and keep all cards sent from family and close friends whether it be birthday, Christmas or Valentines. My moodboard this week is a few cards from my Valentines archive.

#Monday Moodboard - Neon Love

I love living so close to the sea, just a short drive away is the seafront with arcades, fish and chip shops and the beach. During the day the arcades look a bit forlorn and shabby, such a contrast to at night when the lights dance and flash. I've alway been a sucker for the 2p drop machines, how about you?

#Monday Moodboard - Boxing Day Walk by the Thames

We've had a quiet but happy Christmas this year. I've eaten too much and not drunk nearly enough booze (I'm a lightweight these days) but that can all be rectified next year!

On Boxing Day we decided to go for a walk along the seafront, it was a cold but bright and sunny day. I love the Thames, it has so much history and contrast along what is a relatively short stretch of water.
