The much anticipated interactive digital craft magazine 'Gathered' is now available to download for iPad users. I downloaded my copy today and have been really impressed, it is beautifully designed and very user friendly with lots of exciting features. Stand out articles for me are the inspiring interview with Meredith Crawford who talks about discovering her love of blogging, a lovely article about old skool typewriters and a great downloadable Liberty print to jazz up your iPad wallpaper.
There is also a step by step 'how to' tutorial on how to make some super cute needle felt acorns as well as how to customise your clothing using stencils and fabric paint.
Additional features include music, videos and book reviews....it seems they have thought of everything! Oh and you can follow them on Twitter and Facebook too.
They are so confident you will like it he first issue is free, what's not to love?

The Simple Things Magazine.....it's arrived!!!
It's finally here, the new magazine from the makers of Mollie Makes called 'The Simple Things'. This first edition is packed with interesting articles, recipes and inspiration. I'm already inspired to try some new recipes such as the warmed Camembert with rosemary, honey and almonds. Stand out articles include Ghost Signs, (old hand-painted advertising signs) The Expert : Cheese, an expert guide to buying, eating and storing cheese and Seed Swap, a look at the global seed swapping movement. Each article was insightful, informative and interesting. I've also fallen in love with some of the homewares featured, added to my wish list is a cuckoo table clock (www.rume.co.uk) and a wise words cushion (www.johnlewis.com). Click on the link below to check out The Simple Things. Highly recommended.

Scandinavian Stitches Book Review
Scandinavian Stitches - 21 Playful Projects With Seasonal Flair
Author - Kajsa Wickman
Published by Stash Books
I love Scandinavian style and this book is packed full of great craft projects inspired by the seasons. I love the birds drawn by the authors daughter that have been used as an appliqué on a mini quilt. The projects are deceptively simple but anyone tempted to undertake them will need to have some basic craft knowledge and basic kit. However saying that there are some good beginner projects such as an Easter inspired bird ornament that is simple and effective.
Pros - The image quality is good as are the illustrations and instructions, there are plenty of templates that can be photocopied.
Cons - a lots of the projects involve appliqué, only really a con if appliqué is not your thing.
I'm happy with this book and will post my craft efforts upon completion, a good book, would recommend.
