Rainbow

We saw these beautiful rainbows out of our living room window today, see the middle photograph has a double rainbow.  Rainbows never fail to bring a smile to my face, we watched them until they faded away.

Spit and Polish - Singer Sewing Machine 201K

Before and after - the Singer 201K sewing machine has been oiled and polished, what a difference a bit of TLC makes.  This is a great sewing machine, it's as near to an industrial machine as you can get, the build quality is superb and I can't wait to start using her.  She is going in for a service next week, after that she will be good to go.  These machines can go for over a £100 pounds on EBay, but can also be picked up for next to nothing in second hand shops, keeps your eyes peeled, they are well worth the money.

Vintage Bird

My daughter was facinated with my sewing machine, we decided to do a mini project together so she could see how it works.  She chose the fabric and designed the shape of the bird.  The currect issue of Mollie Makes magazine came with some vintage style buttons which we used for the eyes.  It took less than a hour from start to finish and she loves the end result.  She decided to call the bird Violet.

My Craft Corner....a work in progress

Over the Easter holidays we had a sort out and I have now got my very own craft area, as you can see from the images it is in its infancy, however I plan to keep my blog updated with my progress.  I have got out my 1970's Jones Delux sewing machine, inherited from my late Nan who was a fantastic seamstress. I have also been lucky enough to have been given an Singer 201K (1954), this is a lovely old machine that has not been used for over 20 years so is in need of some TLC.  I cannot wait to make this corner of my house in to a productive sewing and crafting workshop.
